Skipping Workout

A few days ago, I was going through the piled up boxes in my room and I found my old skipping rope. I was immediately excited. I tried to see how many jumps I could do; I managed about 10 before the rope hit my ankle and I tripped up. As a kid, I used to be so good and remember it being so much fun, not to mention a great workout.

I started researching the benefits of skipping and discovered that it is great cardio exercise, and of course much cheaper than working out at the gym. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, skipping can help you lose up to a pound a week. And if you skip rope for 30 minutes a day, you can burn around 300 calories.

This cardio workout is also incredible for muscle tone in your legs, lower body and abs. When you first start, you will most definitely feel the pain the next day. Skipping literally has it all - it will help your heart, improve your bone density, increase your strength and help with hand eye coordination (for the clumsy people like me). And the best part it is that you can do it anywhere.

Personally, I feel like skipping is very underrated exercise and I wish I had gotten back into it sooner.  After a few days practice, I can now do about 100 skips without messing up. Hopefully by next week that number will increase so I can go 30 minutes non-stop!
