I had seen some flyers around for kangoo jumping and thought to myself, 'I have to try this immediately'! After showing some images to a few friends, it did not take much convincing to get them to come and try it with Roshni and me.
We took the evening class at Westway Sports & Fitness centre in Notting Hill. When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the instructors who prompted us to go up to the studio and helped us put on our jumping shoes. The boots were very sturdy and kept your feet locked in just like ski boots. We were then shown how to stand properly and keep our balance so we didn’t topple over. Forming rows, we began to jump and move around. Throughout the class, I didn't once did I have the urge to stand still. Our instructor taught us a simple routine and we had to repeat the moves to the beat of the music. It felt like a dance class, but with cooler shoes. We were moving our hips, hands and even shaking our shoulders. Soon we were synchronised at doing the vine, double jumping, jumping with one leg while leaping onto the other leg. With the weight of the shoes, it was hard. My legs felt very heavy while doing it all; I felt the burn in my calves, Roshni felt it in her glutes.
It was incredibly entertaining and I had great fun watching my friends with no rhythm/co-ordination bounce around.
Towards the end of the class we worked on our abs and did some squats, which was really difficult! Then finished the class with some stretching. The class was great fun, I recommend it not only for fitness but also if you want to have a laugh with some friends.
