Recently, I’ve been watching way too much Ray Donovan on TV and at the end of each episode I really want to go boxing. Luckily for me, I had seen a deal on Groupon for classes at Fitness Mosaic. I had some friends tell me they loved the studio and had even gotten rid of their previous gym memberships to join. I didn’t want to get rid of my gym membership but I did see they had an extensive choice of classes and immediately booked myself in for boxing with Kieon.
Before the class started I took a tour of the gym and it was a stunning space. They had quite a few different studio spaces all designed for different classes along with a gym area. Everything is white with plenty of natural light. They currently have a promotion for monthly membership at £49.95 (all classes included!) but will end this month, otherwise single classes cost £9.00.
The class finally started with a warm up of a jog and loads of jumping jacks, we then got into partners and had to get a set of boxing gloves and hand pads. At first I was quite nervous because most people in the class was quite muscular and I was thinking well…I don’t have any of that, but Kieon was very encouraging and I was able to go at a pace that suited me. We began with basic punches and learning our stance. After the first set, we went into a set of 10 burpees before we switched gloves with our partners and did it again. Throughout the class this was our main routine. We learned different techniques of punches and ways to cross them over. Kieon also showed us how to counteract – I felt like it was a great self-defense class. Not only were my arms working, but inbetween sets we were doing squats, burpees and jumps. When the class finished I was seriously sweating!
At the end we did a cool down to Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J which was extremely fitting. Kieon was an amazing instructor he made the class so much fun and not too intense.
